Nearly players and never players

Morning all,

Yesterday we were treated to an Olympian display from Usain Bolt who showed that he is once again the fastest man on the planet over short distances. What an amazing performance from a truly gifted athlete. But, being favourite to win, it didn’t really surprise anybody and it was very much a case of ‘normal service resumed’ for the Jamaican.

As it is with Arsenal today. We’ve been waiting for just under a week for the Cazorla signing to be announced and each day I’ve spoken about it. Even Fifa are talking about it, and whilst they might be run by a bloated fraud of a Swissman, I would have thought they wouldn’t go with a story that they weren’t sure on. Coupled to that weave the announcements from current Malaga players, and it looks like today might shape up to be a good one.

We’ve also been waiting for Nuri Sahin’s arrival from Real Madrid as well. No news that I can see on the airwaves so expect that one to continue through today as well. What we are also being treated to today is a little bit of a change in direction, with the Daily Fail saying we’re in for Kevin Mirallas from Olympiakos, whilst a couple of online sources (about as reliable as my old Ford Sierra) are linking us with Van De Wiel at full back. For my money I don’t see any of these two signings happening. We already have four full backs who I think all get Arsene’s backing, whilst we’ve just signed two international forwards, so why we need another striker would be a surprise to me. Mirallas is 24 which also reduces the likelihood of him coming I think. If Wenger was to go out and get another forward it would be a young prospect rather than a more experienced player in his mid twenties.

Not really anything else on at the mo (Farah) so I’ll call it an early day and see you all tomorrow.

G’day.
